So I’ve been working on my photo collage for class and I think it has turned out really good. I was really having trouble with it at first but I got some good inspiration from artists like Maggie Taylor and Karen Landey. I love the works of Maggie Taylor (and anyone who has seen the ghost whisperer knows her work) but surrealism just isn’t my thing, I guess. 

These pictures are work by Karen Landey. They’re really beautiful, and I love the color.

These are all done using very old photographs and photoshop with some blended layers and textures. I have to say I really like this type of art work and enjoyed doing it. I’m going to have to do some more when/if I ever get some spare time and some inspiration.

Anyway here is how mine turned out… it’s about beauty, life, and fragility. Feeling caged and trapped because you’re too afraid to take a risk and see just what you are capable of.

Some of the things I’ve been collecting lately make me feel like a hoarder… But i swear I really do have a good use for cardboard toilet paper rolls, old text books, plastic bread tie tags, balloons, buttons, bottle caps, old t-shirts, sticks & twigs, etc… I’ve really gotten in to recycled/mixed media art and have a ton of projects i want to start, i just have to find the time.

I got some bad news yesterday and have been too upset to really work on anything. I’ve been trying but I just keep messing up because my mind is somewhere else. I got a call from my mom telling me that the doctors have found a mass on my dad’s spine. They don’t know if its cancerous yet but if its on his spinal cord removing it would mean paralyzing him. Every time they do something to his back they make him worse so I’m scared and wish I could go be with them. Hopefully I’ll feel better when we know a little more about it.

Project 2

So this was kind of a funny assignment and not as easy as it sounded. We had to take a product and change it to something funny or whatever. Unfortunately I forgot that my printer is out of ink so I can’t put the label back on the bottle… oops.
